Mind In The Mountains
If you are like me, you may find yourself daydreaming of snowy peaks and rolling terrain of mixed variety all too frequently. Turbulence to treachery just recently covered in pristine silent whimsy, waiting to be explored and conquered by the ski daredevils often not afraid enough of the gravity the terrain instills. Should my mental model need room to expand, how about into a 3d print of the mountains?
The opposite is often true of 3D printed orthographic terrain often dwarfed by scale or lack of ability to reference closely. However this 3D Printed Model of Olympic Valley at Palisades Tahoe does not hide the expansiveness the terrain yet overall single-bowl oriented cohesion.
The lifts for this model are resented as slit cavities in the model to not distract from the true topography. Would a ski resort made of tunnels and elevators possibly return the ownership of the mountain to the mountain and less consumers?
I applied a generous layer of 3D Print Stick XL to the glass bed of our shop MP-10 for this print as the printer is not insulated and the corners of flat models can at times lift as the print cools. With 3D Print Stick the print had no issues and instead create beautiful sharp borders and semi-reflective back layer.
